Next Generation Dance Studio
Miss Ariel (Performance Troupe, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, & Contemporary)
Ariel began dancing at the age of three at Studio One for Dancers in Oakland, ME. Here, she trained in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and gymnastics. She began attending the Maine Dance Teacher’s workshops as an assistant teacher in 2005 and now attends the workshops several times a year as an active member. Ariel has also attended workshops all over the world taught by the likes of Sonya Tayeh (SYTYCD), Gregg Russell (Emmy nominated tap choreographer), Chris Jacobsen (Co-Founder of The Dance Sessions), and Gina Hatch (Rockette and Disney dancer.)
After high school, Ariel attended the University of Maine in Orono. She choreographed and danced in many Showcases and participated multiple times in the American Collegiate Dance Festival across New England. She also danced in Robinson Ballet’s 2012 Spring Show and was a part of The Federation Dance Company in London, England 2010-11. Ariel has performed in the Waterville Opera House productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the US Premier of Fame Forever and also acted as dance captain in Mary Poppins and Young Frankenstein. Ariel has taught dance classes in England, Ireland and across the state of Maine. This will be her sixth year teaching at Next Generation Dance Studio and third year as Head Dance Teacher.
Miss Erin (Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Clogging)
At the age of three, Erin began dance at the Young Americans Dance Center in Waterville, ME. Throughout her fifteen years dancing there she took tap, clogging, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop classes. She also helped assist classes as she advanced.
Recently, Erin graduated from the University of Maine in Orono where she minored in dance. She had had the opportunity to participate in the tap, hip-hop, and dance clubs at the University, as well as assist a jazz class. She was a member of the American Collegiate Dance Association and traveled to schools throughout New England to participate in the annual festival. Erin is excited to return to Next Generation Dance Studio for her second year teaching!
Miss Cassie (Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre)
Cassandra (Cassie) started dancing when she was three years old at Studio One for Dancers in Oakland, ME. There, she trained in tap, jazz and ballet, as well as assisting in all three dance styles throughout high school. Cassie also participated in a number of theatre productions, gaining musical theatre experience throughout high school. She has been in shows such as Oliver Twist, Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, and The Music Man.
Currently, Cassie is a junior at the University of Maine where she is studying Bioengineering. At the University of Maine, she has had the opportunity to be a part of the tap and dance clubs, take ballet and ballroom dance classes, and participate in the Spring and Fall dance showcases. This will be her second year teaching at Next Generation Dance Studio and she is very excited to be teaching jazz, ballet, tumbling and musical theatre this year!
Miss Laurel (Open Ballet/Contemporary, Advanced Ballet, Pre-Pointe, Pointe)
Laurel began dancing at the age of six at Kennebec Dance Centre in Augusta. At KDC she trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater, and hip hop. Laurel also participated in Maine Dance Teachers workshops (both as a student and a teacher’s assistant). She competed at Dancers Inc competitions in Portland and New York City Dance Alliance competitions in Boston. She attended the NYCDA regional and national convention classes where she trained with teachers such as Joey Dowling, Andy Pellick, Grace Buckley, Kim Craven, and Chloe Arnold. Laurel also performed in local productions of The Nutcracker with both the Moscow Ballet and Portland Ballet.
Laurel began dance teaching by substitute teaching at KDC and has also teaching at their summer dance camp. In 2013, Laurel spent a year teaching ballet and jazz at Bradley’s School of Dance in Skowhegan. Last year she taught senior ballet and senior pointe at Studio One for Dancers in Oakland. Laurel is currently a fourth-year student at Husson University studying Physical Therapy and is also a member of the Husson University Dance Team.
Next Generation Theatre
Laura Gordon is a 17 year old Senior at Bangor Christian School. She volunteers at the local cultural center and at Seeds of Hope food pantry. She has won many math and science awards in competitions and fairs. She has received four top student awards in 2013 for her classes and has maintained Honor Roll status for 5 years. Laura hopes to study engineering at Liberty University in Virginia. She has performed in 11 musicals here at Next Generation Theatre. She has also performed in many of her school shows, at Marsh River Theater, and at several theater camps. Laura joined the Next Generation Student Directing Team in 2013 and loves working with the kids! She enjoys watching how the students’ abilities improve with each show!
Elliot is 16 year old Junior at Bangor High and has helped direct over ten shows at Next Generation Theatre. He has been performing since 3rd grade. He enjoys being a great role model for the boys in the group and loves turning a script into a great show!
Emily is a 16 yr old Junior at John Bapst Memorial High School. She has been performing in plays and musicals since the fourth grade and started directing at age 14. She has been taking theater classes to supplement her experience, all of which she passes down to the Next Generation of students at NGT!
She has received many academic awards for maintaining an Honor Roll standing as well as the Presidential Academic Award. She hopes someday to become a pediatric surgeon, and thanks her students who taught her to aspire for great things and to reach her fullest potential.
Kate Fogg is a 16 year old Junior at John Bapst Memorial High School. She has been doing musicals here at Next Generation Theatre since 2007, and has been directing shows since 2012. She has also performed in multiple main stage productions at the Penobscot Theatre Company. She has been on Honor Roll since she was in the 5th grade. She is very Passionate about theatre and loves working with children.
